Barbican Arts Centre
The Barbican Arts Centre is a Grade II listed building and is the largest performing arts venue in Europe and one of London’s best examples of Brutalist architecture.
DMWR Architects created a multi-functional space that maximised the commercial worth of both the Garden Room and the Conservatory. This involved stripping the 1980’s refurbishment works and introducing a more sympathetic and geometrical interior design that is more sympathetic with the strong forms of the Barbican Centre.
Appointed by the Barbican Arts Centre to prepare a Listed Buildings Application for the refurbishment of The Conservatory and Garden Room, this including installing a new stair between the third floor conservatory and the fourth floor terrace. DMWR Architects optimised the dual aspect onto the conservatory to the north and the landscaped lakes to the south.
